thanks for the info on mary curran. when you go to Virginia City again and check the Polk city directory, could you check for Francis Coyle as well? According to his obituary (died April 24,1897 in Gold Hill) he came to V.C. as a young boy. He came to Philadelphia in 1861 as a minor (about 3), applied for citizenship in sept. of 1876 when he was 18. I don't know who he came over with or with who or where he grew up. I found him in V.C. when he married my ancestor Sarah Ellen Curran in the Catholic Church May 18,1880. I appreciate any help you can give me. Francis Coyle came from County Cavan (Ireland) according to the baptizmal record of his first child. John Curran came from County Cork (Ireland). I don't know when John (born 1826 Ireland) came to this country or with whom. He married my ancestor Mary Quirk probably in Galena Ill. where she grew up and where her parents lived and died and where John and Mary's first two children were born before leaving for Ca.(where their daughter and my ancestor was born) then on to V.C. Nevada where their daughter married Francis Coyle. After Francis Coyle's death his wife (Sarah Ellen) with her 5 children (my grandmother being the only girl) moved to Butte Montana
As for the Currans, I still need information of Mary who married Geoge Page. Also need information on Johanna (b. 1848 Ill.) Frank J. (b. 1872 in Ca.) and James (b. Nov. 28,, 1875 in Gold Hill)
Thanks for the help. I'll be looking forward to anything you find on the John Curran and family and on Francis Coyle.
Mary Jane
