Here is a time frame which might explain where you might find the 1860 census. 1860 Nevada as we know it was still part of Utah Territory. To find 1860 records you need to go to Utah then Carson Territory. That lists all the Carson City, Virginia City etc. census records. In 1862 Nevada Territory did its own census. You can find that online for free. In 1864 on October 31st Nevada became a state. From then on you can find census records under the state of Nevada. Try: www.nevadaculture.org and use their online census records from 1860 to 1920. You can search many ways on that site. The first directory every printed was: First Directory of Nevada Territory 1862 compiled by J. Kelly Wells. I looked in my copy and your Young's are not listed in it. I tried Virginia City, Gold Hill, Silver City and Carson City. After that there were some directories for Nevada and most often Nevada was included in West coast directories. The Nevada Historical Society has many of those copies here in Reno so does the University of Reno. Good Luck. Arline in Reno. Notify Administrator about this message?
