Stockton Well Station, Lyon County

I am looking for information and/or descendants of the owners of Stockton Well Station in Lyon County. Originally built in 1865, closed c 1869. Owners were J. N. North and W. Nichols (Nicholas). It was located near what is now Silver Springs.
The organization I belong to now owns the property and is preserving the property for future generations. The group published an article on the station which was one of the largest way stations in the area as five trails converged on the site.
We have found little on the two men, other than that the were supposedly from Stockton, CA thus the name of the station. I have only their initials so having trouble finding any further records on them. I did find a William Nichols in the 1870 census. He was a stock raiser in Lyon County. Any information appreciated.
TIA
Pat
