There are still Settelmeyer's in the Minden/ Gardnerville area. If you go to the Douglas County Archives page for the NVGenWeb, you will find the burials at the Garden Cemetery and a number of Settelmeyer's. The web address is:

There are also a number of Settelmeyer's in the WWI Draft Registration records for Douglas County and Washoe County.

In the records that I have for Douglas, I found the name spelled:

Settlemeyer, Settelmeyer (most common), Settelmeier and Settelmeir

If you would like a list of those references, let me know and I'll email them to you...

They lived in Gardnerville, Sheridan, Genoa, Minden - all over the Carson Valley.

Also, you might want to contact the Minden Library, they have a "Nevada Room" there with an extremely helpful research librarian who may be able to give you the types of information you're seeking. The Minden Library website is:

Best of luck and please let me know if you want the references that I have.
