George is the son of Edward E. "Whispering Ed" Forrester, one of the pioneers of the Imperial Valley. The Forresters came to the Imperial Valley in 1903. A story dated 5/27/1903 said that Ed was a farmer and stockman in Santa Maria and got land in Imperial in 1901. He and his family drove the stock, pigs, etc 500 miles.

In 1908, a suit was filed against the water development companies for damages suffered in a 1905 flood of the Colorado River. L. L. Forrester suffered $4600 in damages. The water development company had blown up a dyke, and when the river flooded, the defendants' land was cut by deep gulleys, rendering it unsuitable for farming.
