I have just received your message regarding my Nuttall's
"Please help me to help you by stating WHERE in England your Nuttalls originated from before moving to Latvia" http://genforum.genealogy.com/nuttall/messages/368.html
My Nuttall from what I am told were from Manchester, England, this the area that they returned to after leaving Riga, according to the story about my Nuttall's they fled from Riga after the youngest child Ann Susan was born on the journey the ship/boat started to take on water peoples possessions were thrown overboard, a casket belonging to my GGG grand parents was thrown overboard it contained all the deeds to land and property they owned....
Ann Susan was my GG grand mother she married a man called Joseph Chadwick on 6th June 1868 he lived at 2 Strand Street, Manchester and she at 119 Tame Street, Manchester (not entirely sure exactly where these Street were located) they had 13 children the eldest Jane Annette(a) was my G grandmother, the family all emigrated to Rhode Island USA in May of 1884 and Jane Annette was the only one to return, as far as I am aware she went to live with her grandmother Alice Nuttall.
Jane Annette Nuttall married a John Taylor in 1862 they had at least 5 children and lived at Upr Duke Street, Manchester on the 1881 census they too emigrated to America and although I have not found them I know they were not too far away from the Chadwick's because I have letter from my Great grandmothers sisters.
Alice Nuttall nee Bradshaw the mother of all the Nuttall children married a further twice after William's death (do not know when William died) first to a Joseph Settle and then to a Thomas Burgess at the moment I have no dates or address's
I do not know what happened to the other two children Theodore William Nuttall or Emma Nuttall.
I have no idea why the Bradshaw and Nuttall families were in Riga, Latvia I have been advised by the family search people to contact my local family search centre and order films to view and see what other details may be there, though I am a little confused about this, I only started searching in March this year and do not understand the terminology as yet, I got a copy of my GG grand parents and my G grand parents wedding certificates which was relatively easy.
Do you live in Gloucestershire?
