John Nutt, London organ builder
Posted by: Jean C Noble (ID *****4779) Date: September 21, 2011 at 07:20:38

I have been researching this man for some years but have had little luck in discovering much about him. There were two John Nutts living in London in the mid 18th century - one was a merchant but my John Nutt was an organ builder and until 1790 his business was at 16 Denmark St, Soho, London. He was in partnership with Jonathan Ohrman (as Ohrman & Nutt) of Rose Yard, Soho. He then moved to 13 Tottenham Court, New Rd, London.
It is believed he was baptised in 1732 at St Martin, Ludgate, London and may have married Mary Shipway in 1779 at St George in the East.
Two daughters both baptised at Percy Chapel, St Pancras -
Ann in 1780 and Elizabeth in 1784.
