Nutt Y DNA Project - here it is!

Wanted: participation in the McNutt / Nutt Y DNA project! This is the perfect way to further your research and determine if we are closely related to families with similar surnames. I have a feeling that Nutts don’t fall far from the McNutt tree. Many of you trace your lineage to William and Eleanor Nutt. Did you know that they had near neighbors in VA by the name of McNutt?

We are in the process of gathering the lineages of those who have already participated and would like to add a sampling of Nutts to the site.

For the Y DNA project you need to be a male with the Nutt surname. Those without the surname but are interested in furthering the project can donate to the general test fund or pay for the test of a Nutt male relative. To have your test results included in the project we ask that you provide a simple lineage chart starting with your first documented ancestor. No personal information is necessary.

The process is simple and is just a cheek swab – no pain, no blood. What is tested are the genetic markers passed from father to son, to son, and so on. This will give you no information on your maternal line.

Ancestry is running a ½ price special through the end of September. This is the perfect time to participate.
