Hi Guy,

The book you are referring to is:
"Life at Caddo Jake Crossing", an autobiography by Jewel B. Nutt Gray. It was compiled and printed by her daughter Neva. B. Gray Cox, copyright 1996. I don't know where you can get a copy but will ask around.

The book doesn't contain a lot of Nutt genealogy but does relate Jewel's life growing up in Oklahoma and Texas. She describes her grandfather, John Wiley Nutt, as tall with a dark complexion. Grandmother Mollie Hightower Nutt was short and red headed. Jewel's book talks about visits with them.

Jewel was my father's cousin, and I never met her but it appears she was quite talented. She wrote poetry and short stories and published a couple of books. In addition, she wrote songs and was an artist (watercolors).

I am a great granddaughter of John Wiley Nutt and Mollie Hightower Nutt. There is a Nutt family reunion every year the 3rd Sunday in August in Union City, Oklahoma.

I'll send more information about the Nutt family to your e-mail address.
