Aidan: Thanks for your response. My grandfather John Cahill was born in Beefield, Co. Galway, which is a townland just north of New Inn around Woodlawn, in 1883. He came here to New Orleans. His mother was Julia Leslie (b.1837). Julia's parents were John Leslie (c.1814-1884) & Ann Nutley (died 1852 in Co. Galway). Apparently, John and Ann were wed in Kilconnell. I have visited over there - the church at New Inn and many relatives all around Galway. I've done a lot of research on Eastern Co. Galway in church registers, census returns, Griffith's Valuations, and such. I still have most of that though a lot of it is in storage since Katrina. As I recall, I found a number of Nutleys in that general area but could not connect Ann to any of them directly. (I went to school here with a Dr. Tom Nutli - I wonder if that's the same family.) Anyway, that's where I stand. Thanks, Michael Cahill.
