Through a book written on the Nute history, now housed in the New Hampshire Genealogy Center in Concord, NH, I was able to find out that James was born in 1610 in Tiverton, England and came to Portsmouth, NH in 1631 with Captain John Mason to settle his Laconia Patent. (Strawberry Bank). Other spellings of Nute were: Newt, Newet, Newtt, Newte, Newitt, Newitte, Neut and Nutte. I will continue to search the various spellings in England and will let you know if I come up with anything. Hope you'll do the same? Best, Denise
