Ana Elizabeth Johnson (Johnston), 1889-1972, born to Benedict Aloysius Johnson (Johnston) & Louisa (Dummel) Johnson in Cumberland, Allegany County, MD, married Frederick Cody Neus of Daniel NUSE.

Both family lines have documented use of variant spellings of the surname. Neus was spelled Nuse by Frederick Cody Neus' father, Daniel Nuse. Johnson earlier was Johnston, and Johnston was earlier Johnstone.

There are no direct Johnson ties to Mo, but Anna's sister's son married Harriett Sue Drury from Crystal City, MO.

In the Western MD area more than several Nuse, however spelled, family members were from Frederick County, MD, Washington County, MD, and Allegany County, MD.
