Somehow I did not realize you had answered my message last year. I really feel bad about that! Now I will answer and perhaps we can exchange some info.

I did not realize that Lawrence had even been in Wells County. Thank you for the information. It DOES help. It's pieces I did not have before. Any idea why he went on to Illinois when brothers George & John, as well as their parents Joseph & Barbara, stayed in Indiana?

There is a Laurence Newsbaum in the 1860 Wayne Co., Ohio Census. He is living with a family named Graber (also from Switzerland). The stats are: Lawrence Newsbaum, 21, M, Farm Laborer, b. in Switzerland. Nothing else is marked or written in. Is this also your Lawrence? The parents of Lawrence are also living in the same county in 1860, with the same spelling of the last name. Son, John, is living with them, too. Joseph & Barbara are also there in the 1850 Census, with all 4 boys living with them.

Do you have a copy of the actual marriage license of Lawrence & Maggie from the courthouse book? I could easily get one for you and email it to you if you do not and would like one. I was also wondering if you would be willing to scan or copy the letter & info on his death & burial and either email it to me or snail mail it.

Again I apologize for not getting back with you much sooner on this. Too many families to research I think. :o)
