Mary, I was delighted to hear from you. For YEARS, I've known that our Joshua NURSE, Jr. and wf. Elizabeth ROGERS had another child than our Samuel Rogers NURSE who went to Scioto Co., OH. I also knew that Joshua, Jr.'s parents (Joshua NURSE, Sr. and Mary SAMPSON) had a dau. named Mary, but didn't know who she md.. Now, you say that she md. Nathan DAVIS, Jr. in 1761 at Rutland, MA. I have a different birthplace for this Mary NURSE. I have that she was b. in Harvard, Worchester Co., MA. In 1772, Joshua NURSE (Jr.) was listed in Guilford, Cumberland Co., NY with a wife and "two" children (sexes not given). In the 1790 Census of Harpersfield, Montgomery Co., NY, Joshua NURSE was listed with 2 males "16 & up" and 2 females. One of the males had to be Joshua and the other had to be his only son Samuel and I now "think" that the other one was a daughter who "may have md." a DAVIS???? I'm really interested in your DAVIS family and helping to find out how your Samuel Nurse DAVIS got his name. Our Joshua NURSE, Jr.'s wife was Elizabeth ROGERS and her father was Samuel ROGERS and her mother was Sarah HOUGHTON. I can't make sense out of W. Reeves' statement that "My Joshua, brother of Mary died in Scioto County Ohio and had a son Samuel Rogers Davis". He/she must have meant that the son was Samuel Rogers NURSE, not DAVIS. Where did your Samuel Nurse DAVIS, b. 1796 in NY live in NY? Do you have any other information on him (ancestry, names of children)? If you give me this information, perhaps something will tie in to what I have on our NURSE family. Dolores Notify Administrator about this message?
