Gary, we have a John "Jack" Abbott b. 1801 in GA d. 1858 at age 57, who lies in the Abbott-Darracott cem. in Monroe Co., MS. With his brother Eli, he homesteaded prior Indian land. He was a state representative from NE MS and was married to Mary America Holliday (changed from Halliday according to Frances Abbott in a 1942 letter). I had her listed as having been born in GA, but her father, Benjamin W. Holladay was b. Apr. 11, 1777 in NC, d. Oct. 15, 1850 in MS and he is also buried in Abbott-Darracott cem. in Monroe Co. MS.
That is quite interesting about the implied Tory connection.
