James M. Nunn desendants bn about 1806 in Ga. -- 3-- George T. Nunn was bn. in Jun 1875 in Ga, probably in Madison Co. He appeared in the 1880 Madison census as a 4 yr old in his parents's household. He married Mattie Cox on 21 Jan 1900 in Oconee Co. She was bn in May 1878 in Ga, the daugh of John Cox. However, her cemetery marker says she was bn in 1875. The 1900 Oconee census showed them living with her parents in th High Shoals District. He was 24, she was 22 and they both worked in the cotton mill. The 1910 Oconee census showed them living in High Shoals Town #239GMD. He was 34. They had been married 10 yrs and had 2 children living of 2 - both of them at home. In Aug 1949 George signed his Will leaving a life estate in everything to his "beloved wife, Mattie Nunn" At Mattie's death his home house and pasture were to go to his daughter, Mrs. Woodie N. Lovern in fee simple. The dwelling across the street from his home dwelling was to go to his son, Fonnie T.Nunn. Mattie died in 1949 and George died in 1974. Both buried at High Shoals Baptist Church. 3--James B. Nunn was born on 22 Nov 1877 in Ga. probably in Madison Co. The 1880 Madison census showed him as a 2yr old in his parents' household. The 1900 Oconee census showed him still living at home as a 22 yr old cotton mill worker. About 1902 he married Gertrude"Babe" Baxter. She was bn on 21 Feb 1880 in Ga. The 1910 Oconee census showed him as a 32 yr old farmer. She was 27 and they had been married 8 yrs. They had 1 child living of 3. James died on 4 Oct 1960 and
Gertrude died on 26 Jan 1966. Both buried in the cemetery at High Shoals Baptist Church. (In late 1971 the High Shoals Bapt. Church near Athens dedicated a new pastorium with the oldest member aged 96- George T. Nunn. He had been a deacon in the Bapt. Church for 65 years. He was then living with his neice, Louise Nunn. George died in 1974) There are about 20 pages on the descendants of James M Nunn. If you will send your address, I will be copy them for you.
