Welcome to the Nulf family, where confusion reigns supreme! If you believe what you find online about this family, you will be confused for sure.

I am not aware of ANY real official documentation that gives Philipina's maiden name as Bossardt. Yes, you will see that in the LDS library, and you will see others trumpeting it about, but I have yet to hear of anyone who has for sure seen any documentation indicating that Philipina was in fact a Bossardt. If anyone has that documentation, I would sure like to see it.

I have ten children listed for Casper and Philipina, although there are alleged to have been thirteen children.

It is generally accepted that Casper and Philipina Nulf had a son named Henry Nulf who was born circa 1769. It was THIS Henry Nulf, Sr. who was the FATHER of Henry (Gum) Nulf, Jr born circa 1792. Thus, Henry (Gum) Nulf, Jr. was a GRANDSON of Casper Nulf, and NOT a son.

Henry (Gum) Nulf, Jr was married to Sarah Reed. He is considered to have been the founder of Gumtown, now known as New Bethlehem, Clarion Co., PA, but later lived and died in Jefferson Co., PA. I am a descendent of Gum's brother, George Nulf.
