Lucy Nowlin daughter of Robert Wade and Sallie Floyd

I found this in my grandfather's personal files, and wanted to share in case someone can use the information for the Nowlin branch.

I think I have discovered Brayn Ward Nowlin, II and Elizabeth Townsend are Robert Wade's parents. Does anyone have additional information?

James Henry Mitchell & Lucy Nowlin

James Henry Mitchell was born in North Carolina, August 13, 1843; died December 1, 1927 and was buried at Myrtle, Union County, Mississippi.

Lucy Nowlin, his wife, was born November 5, 1850; died April 16, 1906. She was the daughter of Robert Wade Nowlin and Sallie Floyd.

James Henry & Lucy Nowlin’s children:

1.       Emily Isobelle Mitchell – Born February 8, 1873; Died in Myrtle, February 23, 1960. Married Robert Lee Floyd, Dec 20, 1891.
2.       Jinnie Mitchell – Born December 2, 1874; Married S.H. Gray, November 24, 1897.
3.       George Washington Mitchell – Born January 18, 1876; Died 1956 in Myrtle. Married Gertie Telford November 8, 1904.
4.       Mack Mitchell – Born February 5, 1879; Died December 3, 1905. Married Emma Scott.
5.       Sallie Mitchell – Born April 15, 1881; Married J.A. Barnett May 10, 1899.
6.       Fannie Mitchell – Born September 13, 1884; Married Sid D. Carnell July 4, 1900.
7.       Clarence Mitchell - Born February 23, 1886.
8.       Infant Mitchell – Born April 10, 1888; Died same day.
9.       Ida Mitchell – Born April 29, 1889; Died September 15, 1905.
10.       Bennie Mitchell (or Dennie) – Born May 2, 1891; Married L.C. Garrison, January 5, 1907; Died October 1962.

James Henry Mitchell’s parents were Mack Gilbert Mitchell & Sophia Jane Hodges. They were originally from North Carolina. He is from Martin County and she is from Beaufort County. They married and left in 1848 in an oxen drawn wagon and with three of their children going to Tennessee, but met people going back so they dropped down into Mississippi. Sophia Jane was one of the first Eastern Stars in Mississippi. Mack Gilbert Mitchell was born in Martin County, North Carolina. He went to take clothes and food to James Henry in the Civil War and never returned. Sophia Jane Hodges, daughter of Jim Hodges and Jinnie Hodges was born November 10, 1821 in Beaufort County, North Carolina and died January 2, 1898.

Mack Gilbert Mitchell and Sophia Jane Hodges’ children:

1.       James Henry – Born August 13, 1843 in North Carolina; Died December 1, 1927; married Lucy Nowlin.
2.       John Hodges - Born August 20, 1845 in North Carolina.
3.       Rebecca Jane – Born November 10, 1847 in North Carolina; Married Jim Neighbors
4.       Mary E. – Born January 2, 1850 in Mississippi; Married William Ausborne.
5.       Francis L. – Born March 30, 1852 in Mississippi.
6.       Martha Ann – Born January 4, 1854 in Mississippi; Married Alex Barlow.
7.       Susan – Born December 17, 1854 in Mississippi; Married Steve Nowlin.
8.       Sarah M. – Born January 29, 1859 in Mississippi; Married John B. Gilliam.
9.       Mack – Born April 2, 1860 in Mississippi; Married Ellen Ausborne.
10.       Nancy B. – Born July 11, 1862 in Mississippi; Married Tom Ausborne
11.       Agnes – Born Feb 21, 1864 in Miss. Married Tom Nowlin
