I like many others are in the world of search for Nowlen’s.. From virginia – North Carolina – South Carolina – Georgia – Mississippi – Louisiana. This is the track our Nowlen – Noland – Nolen’s followed. Our James Nowlen married Elizabeth Roberts from Georgia, in Mississippi, in 1831. At the time his brother John Nowlen was also in Mississippi. We know that Elizabeth Roberts Nowlen, accompanied her daughter Mary Nolen Brister ( Married in 1848 to Samuel Brister ) to Rapides Parish, Lousiana. We lose James Nowlen in Mississippi prior to the 1848. Are you familiar with any of this history. I am very interest in the shooting incidence. We have a Brister story.. “ A young man was standing in front of Samuel Brister’s home either during the war or just after, when a group of Jayhawkers rode up and shot the young man, Samuel Brister dropped dead of a heart attack.” You never know when the puzzle is going to fit together. mare
