Mary Jane K. wrote that her ggrandfather was born in 1857
in OH.

However, I spent 20 minutes on the LDS WWW site to look up
the 1880 census listings of W. C. NOLWEN and Washington
NOWLEN (both living in MI, but in different counties).
These indicate that these twins were born about 1851-1852
in OH to a father born in PA. A possible sister Olive is
found in the same county in MI as Washington NOWLEN. Thus
you need to check the NOWLENs of PA. I've seen lots of
info about those living in Lancaster Co. PA specifically,
but nobody researching that family seems to appear in this
forum. This family seems unrelated to mine (CT, NY, OH).
It sounds like to need to look at the 1850 census, the
records on the NOWLENs of PA, and maybe the county records
of Lancaster Co. PA.
