I am not sure where Dick Nowlen is from. I only have his name from a hand written letter stating that he was killed by a soldier on furlough.
The following is an exact transcription of a handwritten letter.
...........................................................
Aunt Mide Beck’s first man was Dick Nowlen.
A soldier on furlo shot Dick Nowlen. Later Aunt Mide married Mike Cochran
Aunt Mide had two boys
Nattie Nowlen
John Nowlen
Aunt Mide and the two boy hitched up the oxen and went and got Dick Nowlen he was awful mean and bemeaning that young soldier at a country store the soldier went to the door and shot Dick Nowlen, when his furlo was up he went back to the army they didn’t do any thing with the young soldier
...........................................................
I do not know yet who wrote this letter. I am looking for other letters to compare the handwriting.
