He does not seem to be from the Mentor,
Lake Co. OH Nowlens that I am tracking. All
the children in that family born about that
time are accounted for, and your Wellington
Clayton NOWLEN does not fit in.

I suggest that you simply try the census
while trying the more outlandish spellings
that occur as varients of NOWLEN. For
example, my NOWLEN family in the census
will appear as NOWLIN, KNOWLAND, NOWLAND,
etc. The census workers in OH and NY only
got the name spelled correctly about 1/2
the time prior to 1850. The more outlandish
spellings were found only because I knew
the exact geographical location to search.
