Hi~I may be able to get you an answer.I don't know the whole story.I know the very first settler in Boyne was from Irenland. He and his wife named Boyne for the area they were from. This area, Boyne, is the Irish connection to the Nowlands getting to Northern Michigan and Boyne particularly.Word travelled that the Miller's had arrived in Northern Michigan back in Ireland during the potato famine and that there were opportunities to make a living via logging. I find it interesting and almost ironic that your name is also the name of my aunt, Aunt Patricia (Pat).Do you have any other sisters, Linda or Karyl?Have you been able to link my side of the state to you? There were probably brothers who took tracts of land to log and they just ended up on opposite ends.I wonder if the boat stopped in New York and that being the first sight of land, they opted to stay put instead of travel for another month?Very interesting!
