My great grandparents came here from Poland. It is our belief that the Nowak name is indeed Polish. My grandfather had once told me that although it is spelled Nowak, in Poland the "W" is pronounced as a "v". So it can be pronounced Novak. You may be right about all of that but this is what I was told about our ancestors.
