My maternal ggGrandfather was William Notter from Wertemburg. He would have been born about 1842. He was a carpenter and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa. He married a woman whose name I don't know but her parents were from Alsace. His granddaughter Jessica Dorothea Notter Panke was my grandmother. My Mother's name is Louise Panke Mackey; she is 85 years old . I don't know if any of this info. is of any help, but if you can assist me in any way about finding more about my family it would be greatly appreciated.
Off the subject of Notters, but can you tell me what "Hess D" might mean? I have found that as the birthplace of another family member.
Thank you very much.
