Hello Mr. Notter,
During my familytree search I learned that my name is first mentioned in archives in Holland in relation to the name af a farm in the neighbourhood of a small village named.... Notter (also known as Nutter). This small village still exists, and can be found in the province of Overijssel on the Netherlands. Could this also be a possibility of the background of your name? Perhaps you have ancestors who emigrated from Holland ? In early times many people were named after the place where they lived. Interesting possibility I think!
I wish you lots of success with your Notter search !
