I was always lead to believe that one of my ancestors married a Norton. However I think I have established it was actually a Noton, at least IGI says so.

My ancestor William Seddon was married for the second time to Sarah Noton 12 July 1785 Bakewell Derbyshire. They produced a family of 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl - William, Peter, Richard, Mary (m. Richard Potter - MP for Wigan 1832,35 & 37), James and Samuel.

In looking at the IGI I have found two Sarah Notons christened at Bakewell Derbyshire, who may fit,
1. 16 May 1750 born to Thomas and Sarah
2. 11 April 1762 born to Richard and Mary Cundy.

It is a bit of a long shot whether she was part of these families or not, but if anyone knows the family or could give me some info. I would be thrilled.
