Thanks for your reply. I'm glad the my e-mail notifier is working or I would have missed it.

Yes, I did mean 1817. He was born in August of that year but my records say his birth was in Mississippi. He died in Montague County, Texas in 1883. His wife, Cynthia Louisa McGehee Sellers, and he were married in West Feliciana Parish in 1842. She was born in Louisiana in 1821 and died in Gainesville, Texas in 1900. From what I can tell by their children's birth, marriage and death records, Abel and Cynthia moved from Louisiana to Texas around 1882.

They had 9 children - Sarah Eleanor, Samuel Sellers, Noel Simmons, Edward McGeehe, Ann Miller, Agnes Elizabeth, Abel Slaughter, David Miller, and my great grandmother, Mary Louise Norwood. She was born in 1859 in East Feliciana Parish and married James Bunch in Cooke County, Texas in 1882. My grandfather, Abel Norwood Bunch, was their first child.

What are the odds of there being two children named Abel Theophilus Norwood who were born in the same month and year but in two different states? Since my information says that Cynthia was born in Louisiana and that she and Abel were married in West Feliciana Parish, LA. in 1842, I would guess that I have the wrong birthplace.

Thanks for your time.
