Norwood, Timothy, South Carolina
Is anyone descended from a Timothy Norwood in Greenwood or Anderson County, South Carolina?I think there are two Timothy Norwoods who were born about the same time. One was born in 1875/6 and the other in 1877/8.One was the son of William Norwood.
1.The one born in 1875/6 was married to a woman I haven't found and had the following children:
Paul, b. 1905
Louis? b. 1910
Gladys, b. 1913
There was a relative or adopted daughter, b. 1923, named Louise Norwood.
He registered for the 1918 draft.
He was a Mill Operative at the Ware Shoals Mfg. Co. in Greenwood Co.
Before 1918, he married Lula, who was apparently a widow Ensley, who had several Ensley children herself.
He died of a stroke in 1937 when his wife was Myrtle, who is probably the one born in 1893 who died in 1971.
His middle initial was C.
2.The other one often appears as Tim Norwood. He was boarding with a Madden family in 1900 when he was 23 years old (or this was the other Timothy Norwood?).He was married to someone named Seener and had the following children:
Mallie or Mollie, b. 1902
William H., b. 1904
Lois? L., male, b. 1907
Lillian T., b. 1910
He was a Cotton Mill Oiler in 1910.
I don't find any military records.
These two men appear in some census reports and not in others. There are quite a few transcription errors related to the census for them and they move around.
It's quite possible that it's the same man and that Seener is the first wife before Lula; however, where do the children of Seener go?
I haven't been able to trace any of the children forward to later censuses or other records.
I hope one or more of their descendants know their family history.
Thanks,
Dick Norwood
