Wow Jan. So much info. Most of it fits with what Harriet's daughters Billie and Grace told us. Some of the things indicate that Inga didn't have money. I haven't found anything that shows their lifestyle. Will you share where you got your information from? Inga's kids (3 with Ole and 2 with Sverre) are all gone now. Her daughter, Harriet had 12 children with Robert Franklin King (2 stillborn and a set of twins, the rest were single births.) They are all gone now so we can't ask.
My brother and I along with a couple cousins are very interested in the Norway side. Do you know if there are any pictures of them or their homes? I know that Nils FS Tambs had some connection with an historical hotell in Lund (I think). The Drevdahl/Drivdal farm is in Flekkefjord. They are on both sides of the fjord. Not sure which spelling but I do know there is an Upper and Lower.
These are some of the stories from Billie and Grace.
I found a mention of an Ole O Drevdahl in a city directory 1889-1891 Tacoma WA. I haven't been able to get over to the Tacoma Public Library and look at the directories and see if there is some information to identify him as ours. In 1888 Inga is in an apartment in Minneapolis MN alone. She wrote in Oct 1889 to her brother Victor in Norway to get information on how to get a divorce. Maybe Ole came out here and got a divorce in WA. I will check that as soon as I can. In Victor's answer he told her it had to be 3 years for abandonment. A different letter stated (I can't remember who wrote this letter to whom) he was having money problems and hadn't been able to send the promised money to take care of the kids. I need to get with the person that has the letters and verify this.
I do know that Inga made a trip back to get Leif in 1893 and bring him over to the US. In 1900 Harriet came over alone and 1901 Nils made the trip over here.
You sure found good info on Ole's parents. I'd heard but not proven that he was a ship captain and owned a fleet of ships. This from Billie and Grace. They were the oldest girls and I guess Inga and Harriet talked with them more than the rest of the kids. The rest of that I don't have. This is wonderful information. Do you have the names of Hans 2 brothers he worked with? I have a birth date of 8 Feb 1814 for Hans Olsen. I need to digest the rest of your note and write on it later. I'm getting confused.
I sure appreciate all your work. There is so much information here, love it. Thank you very much, Ginger
