"Susan" was born Synneve Andfindsdatter on the Brandvig farm in Stord, Hordaland, Norway and was baptised there on 23 Sep 1821.

She married Petter Pettersen of Helvig? farm on 22 Jun 1854 in Stord.

It is highly likely that her brother, John Anfinsen of the Brandvig farm also emigrated to the central Iowa Story/Hamilton Co. area. You can find mention of a John A. Branding/Brandvig/Brandvik in records of that area and investigating his background gave the additional clues necessary to find the correct part of Norway they came from.

Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -
