Sidsel Olsdatter was born 12 Nov 1842 in Oppland, Norway, and married Jonas Christian Johannesen (Swedish) of the Helsaas farm, on 23 Jul 1871, in the Svennes Church, Oppland, Norway. They had 3 daughters: Johanne born 1871 died in infancy; Johanna born 1873, and Carolina born 1876, grew to adulthood. Our oral family tradition says that Sidsel died of "Black Diphtheria" when the girls were young. The girls were taken by their father to relatives, and was not seen again; so they were raised by relatives. Johanna came to America in 1889; and Carolina came in 1894/95. I HAVE their history forward! What I have been unable to document is Sidsel's death - and whatever happened to Jonas. Sidsel would have died between 1876 and 1889. She was listed on the Belgum and Rudlang farms, as well as in the parish records for the Svennes and Ulnes churches - but I haven't been able to find the DEATH in those records. Also, did Jonas ALSO die in the epidemic? Or did he just go elsewhere and begin a new life?? Thanks for any help you can give me on these. Eunice Bullis, firstname.lastname@example.org
