John, I think we have researched the same Daniel Ashby Norvell, we just differ on his parentage.I thought I'd give you some other info. that I've researched so you can compare it with your research. The 1880 Census lists Daniel A. Norvill (Age 39), Mollie (Age 36), Glenora (Age 5), and Cassie (Age 2), as living in Palo Pinto, Texas.Glenora was born 24 Oct. 1874 in Beaumont, Texas. The 1900 Census finds them in Holdenville, Creek Nation, Indian Territory.I contacted a genealogist in Wagoner, Okla. after I found Mollie's obituary which stated that they started the Norvill Institute there. The Norvill Institute opened Sept, 1895.The article that the genealogist sent me says that Daniel & Mollie lived on the 2nd floor of the Institute and also taught there.I've lost them after the 1900 Census until Mollie's Obituary dated 1916.The obituary reads as follows:
Mary A. Norville, widow of the late D.A. Norville, a contractor in Wagoner, Ok., died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cassandra Stinsman, 546 Quindaro Blvd, Kansas side. She was 74 years old and was born in Younger, Mo., a town named in honor of her father, Anderson Younger. She taught school in Fort Worth, Tx. and Marshall Tx., and founded the Norville Institute in Wagoner, Ok., twnety-five years ago.She had lived in Kansas City ten years, previous to which time she lived in Fargo, N.D.She had been an invalid three years. She is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Glenora Watkins of Fargo; two sisters, Mrs. J.R. Hodge, of Laddonia,Mo; Mrs. Hattie Wynne of Flint, Ark.; and a brother, Walter Younger of Port Arthur, Tx.The funeral will be at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the home.Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
I know Mollie & Daniel were married in 1871 in Centralia, Mo. (Boone Co.).Daniel is listed as dying 21 April, 1906 but I can find nothing about where he died or is buried.Do you have any information on him?Lee Watkins thinks he might have died around the Kansas City area as that is where Mollie and Cassandra are buried but I can find no information on him at all.
Keep in touch and let me know your information.I would like to research the Daniel A. Norvell & Thomas connection.Where did Thomas live?Maybe I can find some census microfilm with his family. Thanks for sharing with me.If you'd like copies of anything I have, please let me know.
