The reference to NORVALL/NORVELL (spelling varies) in Gibson Co. TN caught my eye...!
My ancestor Mariam NORVALL was b. 1815, TN.She had a slightly older sister named Cherrie(sp?) who married about 1830-1831 to John W. ELLIS (a Methodist Minister). Cherrie died giving birth to a son in 1832, and later her younger sister Mariam married her sister's husband John W. ELLIS by mid 1830's.They resided in Marshall Co. Miss. for a few years and then to Carroll/Gibson Co. TN area after 1850.
When searching for NORVALL/NORVELL families in 1820 TN census, I was able to rule out several families (that did not have young daughters in their age bracket), and came up with the following "possibilities" for father of Mariam and Cherrie NORVALL:
Moses NORVALL - 1820 Davidson Co. TN
Zacheriah NORVALL - 1820 Davidson Co. TN
Wm. NORVELL - 1820 Sumner Co. TN
James Jr. NORVELL - 1820 Bedford Co. TN
John Jr. NORVELL - 1820 Bedford Co. TN
If anyone can help me find out who the parents of Mariam and Cherrie NORVALL/NORVALL, please contact me!
I would like to know if there is any chance she was a sibling of Thomas G. and John R. NORVELL (brick masons who were early residents of Jackson, Madison County TN).
Thanks!
