Looking for information on George Washington Norvell. 1870 Bradley County, TN census says b. abt. 1831in NC . Married Sarah ? – b. in TN abt 1831.

Three sons – H.C. (Hartsell Cornelius) b 7/17/1856 in Calhoun, McMinn, TN. Christopher b 1860 TN and George Washington b 7/1865 in TN.

HC m. 1879 to 1) Alice T Hays (b abt 1861 TN) On 1880 Bradley Co, TN Census Dist 7, pg 251 D they are listed as Hartane and Allice Norvill. 2 sons: Floyd R (TN 1884 –1963 CA) Fredrick Leon (b 1886 TN) m. Johnnie Beatrice Herring.

HC m. 2) Mollie Bell Critchlow (1870 KY – 1958 TX)children: Arthur Houston (1889 TN –1979 TX) m. Mary Ann Dennis;
Minnie (1894 TX – bef 1979) m. Cecil Sanders;
Mamie (1896 TX-d. KS) m Anastasous Pratas;
RJ (1902 TX-1975 AR) m Ollie Callaway;
Dewey (1905 TX-1995 TX) m Mary Dickson;
Howard (1908 TX-1990 CO?) m Ralpha McDonald.

Christopher – no other info

George W (1865 TN –1962 OK) m 1) Unknown - children: Mattie (b.1885 TN);
Marie “May” (1887 Collin Co, TX – 1959 OK) m Roland Kellogg;
Willie M (1890 TX – 1974 San Bernardino, CA) m Helen ?. George was a photographer. He married 2) Mary Ada Bruce.

HC and George moved to Texas in mid 1890s. About that time, both added an “e” to make the last name Norvelle. All of their descendants spell it with the “e”.
