The Norval daughters inherit(ed) it from their dads but do/did not pass it on, so you're correct. It is possible that a Norval female conceives a child with a man carrying the I1 haplotype so that her son has the same haplotype as the Norvals, but her sons will not match on the full DNA marker sequence.
