I have, since this posting, found out more information about this family.

Charles Norval was the son of Joseph Norval and Janet Cree of Thornton, Markinch in Fifeshire Scotland. They had several children:

Margaret married a Peter Lang(Laing)in Thornton.
John b.circa 1799 in Fifeshire married (spouse unknown) and lived in Snizort, Isle of Skye, living and working in the household of an Alexander Macdonald, an engineer. John was a joiner and had at least one son, Joseph.
Janet, b. circa 1802, married Alexander Kilgour circa 1824 and emigrated to Pontiac County, Quebec Canada probably in the 1840s.
Charles Norval died probably sometime before 1832, leaving his two sons to be raised by their grandfather in Thornton.

If you have any further information on these families, please contact me.
Thanks..
Sue
