The only clue I may be able to give you is that my Matteson line marries into an ANDREW family, which is another RI line, some of whom were in Coventry RI at the time of the Revolution. Charles Andrew (Jr.) comes to Shaftsbury from RI after the Rev, and is the father of the Andrew families of Shaftsbury and Pownal. Charles' parents were Charles Andrew SR, and Judith Matteson. Judith's parents were Henry Matteson Jr and Judith Andrew. You see what I mean about cousins marrying cousins. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Henry and Judith are our mutual ancestors. It does present a challenge. I suspect LABAN is meaningful also. It's an old testament name, but an unusual one, so if you find that in earlier RI names you have something.
Judith Matteson's brother Hezekiah Matteson, b ca 1694 is your probable ancestor, but proving it is the thing. Maybe DNA will do the trick.
