I have a David Northup listed on my site that was originally married to Elizabeth Gardiner, and later to Sarah (Sally) Smith. Here is what my page says concerning this David Northup:

David Northup was born 4 Nov 1778 N.kingstown, Washington, RI, the child of Lebbeus and Abbigail (Scranton) NORTHUP He married 1.) Elizabeth GARDINER (b. 26 Aug 1777, d. 2 Oct 1809 N.kingstown, Washington, RI) and they had at least two children.
He married 2.) Sally Smith.
