I have wondered what my great great great great Grandmother's first name was too. My (4) great grandfather's name was William Northrup and he lived in Oak Grover, Michigan about 1836. His daughter's name was Sarah Northrup Hosley. She married Joseph Hosley. Mrs. Northrup was the first white person buried in the Jones Cemetery (1837)near Oak Grover & Cochoctah, Michigan. Her daughter Sarah (Northrup) Hosley (Born 1779)was buried there too. Sarah and her husband Joseph Hosley lived in Oak Grove also. Sarah died 7/26/1850. Her husband born in Vermont in 1777 and died and also buried in Jones Cemetery 8/22/1855. They lived in Sullivan, Madison County, New York before coming to Michigan. They had 3 sons, the youngest Minor died and was buried in New York near their home. Their two sons William Kendall Hosley, Sr. (7/2/1821-6/11/1904) and Holland C. Hosley (1/15/1823-1879) moved with their parents to Oak Grove, Michigan. They owned a store, and two mills a grist mill and a saw mill.Their son
William K.Hosley married Eliza Beach (1st wife) and Deborah Fuller Cardell (2nd wife). Wm K. Hosley, Sr. had 7 children.
Holland C. Hosley married a Sarah Jane Head. She is buried in Jones Cemetery also. She was born 1830 and died in 1856.They had three children. Holland then married Priscilla Vaughn (1831-1918)and they had 2 children. Additional information on the Northrup family in New York would be appreciated and I can add to the family from Michigan branches in the Hosley line. I know of no other children of Mr. & Mrs. William Northrup. Sincerely, Kathy kjlid4@yahoo.com
