Joseph Simeon Northrop was born 1870 in Iowa son of Charles Allen Northrop and Lucina C Putnam Northrop. The Northrop line goes back from Charles: Joseph, Joseph, Gideon, Samuel, Samuel, Joseph the immigrant.
Joseph Simeon Northrop married first to Minetta B Fisher. Two children died young in Iowa and are buried north of Munden, Kansas. They adopted Violet who married Marvin Gilson, a forest ranger. Violet and Marvin Gilson had Melvin and Layton Gilson.
