Northrup-Northrop Genealogy by A. Judd Northrup

Possible error in A. Judd Northrup's Northrup-Northrop Genealogy Book.

I have long been puzzled about a portion of my lineage from Joseph Northrup who emigrated from England in 1637. The lineage in the book is Joseph/William/William/William/Nehemiah/Clark/William Thomas/Byron D./Alton Elnathan/Harold A/William A. The Second and third Williams each had about ten children whose names are virtually identical according to the book. I cannot believe teo succeeding generations would use the same ten names. I suspect that one of these Williams did not exist but I have not been able to figure out which one. Can anyone cast light on this question?

Thanks for any help you can give me. If anyone is interested in generations beyond my father, Harold A. please let me know.
