Hello,
Our Ancestors came from Ireland,we believed Northern Ireland mostly because we think they were Protestant,at least after coming to Ameica . We are O'Neal's/O'Neill's,our ancestors were found back to our oldest here in South Carolina. They may have come here earlier and to another state first.
Our oldest we have found was named Axom(Axum/Exum) O'Neal
born in 1795 in Ireland(according to the 1870 U.S.Census record for South Carolina,Darlington County )he was not on the 1880 so we presume him to be dead at that time.We have found no other record of him, other than family records of descendants and descendants of brothers and one sister. The brothers were Griffin-born abt 1790,Wiley -born abt 1780/85 Maxwell-born abt 1780 and John -born-?-died 1836(from his will in which he names his brothers Axom and Griffin and his sister Beedy)Beedy the only sister we have knowledge of was md. to Elias Davis-born?.Axom was md to Mary "Polly" Parnell (Charles Stewart Parnell??) and then to Lucy Flowers.Axom had a total of abt 13 children. Griffin was md to Catherine Tedder(Irish ??).I desperately need to find the place of origin in Ireland from whence my ancestors came and to find their parentage and possibly more siblings and maybe some distant "Irish Cousins" with which to correspond and get to know. Can you or anyone out there in Ireland help me??Please if you have a clue or some advice!
Thanks so much and God Bless You and Ireland ,
