Hello Sussan,
This is a bit of a long shot but I am of the Steele family of the Wilkes-bare, Penn. area who settlesd in Perry Co and Luzserne Co. Penn.Is their a Peter or Joseph Steele in your family.Peter or his father (name unknown) are believed to have been from Ireland. Although from Ireland this particular Steele family was originaly from Scotland.I can only assume they are an example of your true Scot-Irish with Presbyterian (Church of Scotland) as their demonimational faith. If their is a Peter Steele who lived in Penn. in to your family their might be a link or connection, please contact me.
Peter STEELE, the first one known by name, was born in New Buffalo, Perry County, Pennsylvania, or reared there; the family was originally from Scotland, then Ireland, thence removed to America; removed to Northumberland County first, then to Hanover (PA) sometime previous to 1790; lived on the River Road below the Red Tavern; died in Hanover in 1823.
