CHERRY DAVID m MARY McKEN
I am looking for information about David Cherry and hope the new facts I have fit into someone's CHERRY family tree. David and Mary Cherry were my Gt. Grandparents who immigrated to NZ.
David Cherry was born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland in 1845 and he and his sister Mary Ann were orpaned when their mother died or perhaps both parents. They were sent to Sanquhar, Scotland to the household of Lean Glencross. They appear in the 1851 Scotland census when David was 5 and Mary Ann was 9. Their parents were ROBERTand JANE (nee Bruce) Cherry of Co Antrim.
At 22 David Cherry married MARY McKEN in Sanquhar 1867.
Mary McKen parents were BARNARD b.1805 approx and Mary (nee CONNOR) b.1807 approx and were originally from Co Antrim also.
I would be extremely grateful for any information on any of these families especially as I will be in Northern Ireland July this year (2013).
Ann Cummock (New Zealand)
