There were a lot of Rutledges in Co Tyrone. I did find a ships
passenger list for 1854 for a William Rutledge and an Eliza (daughter) from Omagh. The ages match for each and family history says Eliza came with her father. I believe the rest of the family came later. Some of the family supposedly came through Halifax and they settled in East Gwillimbury Ontario. They were Methodists. There is a Hugh Gibney in Griffiths in
Termonmaguirk and an Alexander Gibney in Donacavey in the Tithe Applotments. A James Gibney, Hugh Gibney and Robert Gibney settled on property directly adjacent to the Rutledges in East Gwillimbury. I have not been able to link Eliza Gibney to them, but believe that there is a good chance Hugh may have been a brother. His father was Alexander Gibney.
