You should get Samuel’s father’s name from his marriage certificate (if you buy a copy). And as I suggested on another board, the PSNI police museum in Belfast should have details of his career, and may mention his family. He had to have served 7 years as a police officer before he could marry, and he wouldn’t have served in the county where he was born.
