Bill,
Drumneecy (one of many spellings)is a single townland but it contained two families of Hasletts. To distinguish them researchers used the terms "upper" and "lower".If you view the townland it spreads gently upwards from the River Roe to higher land above. It is bisected by the road which runs north from the town of Dungiven to the town of Limavady, nine miles away and I assume this road seperates upper and lower. Ballyquin is about one mile north to the East of the road.
To confuse you history buffs even more Henry Haslett (Upper), who married Maria Murrell, had a sister, Mary Ann Haslett, who married James Haslett (Lower). The two families are supposedly related but I have not been able to find a common ancestor.
Getting back to Murrells I do not know if you are aware of the following website:-
www.4qd.org/bann/Families/Morrell/TextFile.html
The upper case is deliberate. It gives an index of many Murrells/Morells who lived in the north-east of Londonderry. One other item is The Census of Protestant Householders of 1740, it lists Robert Murrel and James Murrel, both of Ballywhin (sic) in the parish of Dungiven.
I think this is Ballyquin and that the parish of Balteagh did not exist at that date but I have still to research this.
As you might gather I am not totally au fait with the operation of computers but as I live in the local area I will be happy to give you any further info I can dig up.
Regards
Morrison
