James Black and Elizabeth Keenan, Co. Antrim
James Black was born about 1841 to James and Elizabeth Black. The father was a farmer; the son a blacksmith. James Black, the son, married Elizabeth Keenan, b. abt 1843, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Keenan in 1861 at the Church of Ireland, Carnmoney, Co. Antrim. They had a son, James Hamill Madill Black born in 1863. James (b.1841) died of tuberculosis in 1864 but had a posthumous daughter, Eliza Jane, born in 1864. The above is proven. Tradition says that Elizabeth (Keenan) Black died, and presumably little Eliza Jane as well, leaving James Hamill Madill Black to be brought up with Martin cousins, Agnes and Lizzie. When James Black (b. 1841)died at his mother's house in 1864, the mother was listed as Eliza Madill. Is anyone else working on this family?
