Hi Brasher: When William married Sarah he was just reached his 17th birthday (born 10 November 1850); Sarah was at least ten years older. His father, John Northcutt, had just died the previous December. I have the feeling it may have been a hasty and terribly ill-advised marriage, and he was really too young to be making a marriage. If he inherited land in Texas, it wouldn't have been from his father who died in Alabama. He appears in the 1880 Navarro Co., TX census as a boarder in the hh of Alexander Peacock. By 1900 he was in Leon County. His mother and sister were living with him. I've never been sure exactly when his move to Texas was made.He did not remarry until 1892 when he married Marguerite T. Wade. As best I can ascertain, he had no children. He died 24 January 1908 and is probably buried somewhere in Leon County, though I've not found a cemetery record yet. His mother Ann and sister Elly died in Leon County and are buried there. Have no record of his 2nd wife Marguerite's dates.
Do you have Sarah's birth/death dates? When did she marry King?
You say Sarah never remarried. Do you know if she ever filed for divorce? Thought perhaps Sarah had died so never thought to check for divorce records on William in Alabama or Texas. But I don't recall seeing any in a book on Alabama divorces. But I'm not certain I recall if it would have gone back far enough.
Did Sarah ever send letters back to Alabama while she was searching for William in Texas?
I can't excuse William running off like that but as I have no letters or pictures of him or other family stories, can't say what his reasons would have been.
What do you know about Sarah's Morris relatives? I have Enoch L. Morris and Frances Morris who married into my Northcutt lines in Monroe Co.
Then on the other Miller connection I have John Bascom Miller s/o William Parker Miller & Nancy Ann James who married my Nancy Jane Presley in Conecuh Co. Is that a different William P & Ann Miller who were King Solomon Miller's parents?
